“I was delivering Singing Playgrounds in a school a few years ago and I was warned by one teacher that there was a Polish child in the class with special needs who probably wouldn’t handle a singing workshop very well.

Since I am of Polish origin myself I started singing one of our Polish singing games. The boy’s eyes lit up (as did the teacher’s) and he stopped what he was doing and came and listened. We managed the whole 20 minutes lesson without any disruption and the boy stayed calm and focused throughout. It was a magic moment, not just for me but for the teachers too!”

“I joined the Ex Cathedra Singing Playgrounds team because I enjoy using singing games to develop children’s self-esteem, team work and musical skills in a fun way!”

“Years ago we took a group of children from Tower Hamlets’ Singing Playgrounds schools to Billingsgate Fish Market in London to stand and perform on stage at the One Young World Summit. The children sang with such enthusiasm that they got everyone in the room up and dancing, even Archbishop Desmond Tutu who gave each and every child a high-five as they left the stage. It was unforgettable.”

“Working on the Singing Playgrounds project over the years has brought me absolutely massive amounts of joy – there is nothing better than seeing hundreds of children jumping up and down singing their hearts out, having fun, working together, and benefitting from the incredible power of singing. It’s a privilege to be part of this project!”

“The excitement I feel when going into a new school never fades!”
